An SSL certificate encrypts the connection between your website and its visitors, so your site loads over `https://` and browsers show it as secure. Every Ruachost hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate, and you can buy paid certificates if you need extra validation or features.

## Free SSL with your hosting

Every hosting plan includes free **AutoSSL** certificates from Let's Encrypt. They're issued and renewed automatically for your domains, as long as the domains point to your hosting. See [How to install an SSL certificate on your site using Let's Encrypt SSL](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/ssl-security/ssl-certificates/how-to-install-ssl-certificate-on-your-site-using-lets-encrypt-ssl/).

## Paid SSL certificates

Ruachost sells **Sectigo** (formerly Comodo) certificates:

- **DV (Domain Validation):** confirms you control the domain. Issued quickly.
- **OV (Organisation Validation):** also verifies your organisation's details.
- **EV (Extended Validation):** the strictest checks on your organisation. See [What is EV SSL?](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/ssl-security/ssl-certificates/what-is-ev-ssl/)
- **Wildcard:** covers your domain and all its subdomains, for example `*.example.com`.
