Your **contact information** in cPanel is essential for receiving important notifications about your hosting account. This includes alerts about password changes, AutoSSL renewals, quota warnings, and other system messages. Keeping this information up to date ensures you never miss critical updates.

## Steps to Update Contact Information

1. ### Log in to cPanel

   - If you’re unsure how, see our guide: *[Logging In and Out of cPanel](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/cpanel/getting-started/logging-in-and-out-of-cpanel/)*.
2. ### Go to Contact Information

   - On the **cPanel Home screen**, scroll to the **Preferences** section.
   - Click **Contact Information**.
3. ### Update Your Email Address

   - Enter your **primary contact email address**.
   - ???? Tip: Use an email address **not associated with your hosting domain** (e.g., Gmail, Outlook).

     - This ensures you still receive notifications if your domain or hosting service is unavailable.
   - (Optional) Add a **secondary email address** for backup notifications.
4. ### Set Notification Preferences

   - Under **Contact Preferences**, select the checkboxes for the notifications you want to receive.
   - Examples include:

     - Password changes
     - Disk quota warnings
     - AutoSSL certificate events
     - Account resource usage alerts
5. ### Save Changes

   - Scroll down and click **Save**.
   - Your updated contact information and preferences take effect immediately.

> **Note:**
- Notifications are sent only to the email addresses you specify here.
- If you change your email provider, update cPanel immediately to avoid missing alerts.
- Keep at least one external email address (not hosted on your domain) for redundancy.
