The **Optimize Website** feature in cPanel allows you to improve your site’s performance by enabling **Apache’s mod_deflate module**. This compresses content before sending it to visitors’ browsers, reducing load times and bandwidth usage.

## Why Use Optimize Website?

- Speeds up page loading by compressing text‑based content (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Reduces bandwidth consumption.
- Improves user experience and SEO rankings.

## Steps to Enable Optimization

1. **Log in to cPanel.**
2. On the **Tools page → Advanced section**, click **Optimize Website**.
3. Under **Compress Content**, choose one of the following options:

   - **Disabled** → Turns off compression.
   - **Compress All Content** → Compresses all files before sending them to visitors.
   - **Compress the specified MIME types** → Compresses only selected file types.
4. If you choose **Compress the specified MIME types**, enter the MIME types you want to compress (e.g., `text/html`, `text/plain`, `text/css`, `application/javascript`).
5. Click **Update Settings**.

> **Note:**
- Compression applies only to text‑based content. Images, videos, and PDFs are not compressed by mod_deflate.
- Over‑compression may cause issues with certain file types. Use **specified MIME types** for more control.
- If your site uses a caching or CDN service (like Cloudflare), check compatibility before enabling compression.
