This article explains MIDI files and how they work on ruachost.com accounts.

### About MIDI

MIDI files do not contain actual audio.\
Instead, they **tell the computer’s sound card what notes to play**, which instruments to use, and how to play them.

They are also very small in size compared to regular audio files:

- A 5-minute **.wav** file may be 20 MB or more.
- A comparable **MIDI** file can be under 1000 KB.

### Using MIDI

ruachost.com servers already include the correct MIME types for MIDI playback.\
You can upload files using either extension:

- #### .mid
- #### .midi

These files can be linked or embedded in your web pages just like any other media file.
