Every Ruachost hosting account has a **primary domain name**. This is the main domain associated with your account and is used for your website files, email addresses, and account configuration. If you need to change this domain, Ruachost can update it for you.

## Before You Request a Change

- The new domain **must not already exist** in your account as an **addon domain** or **parked domain**.
- To avoid downtime, make sure the new domain is **registered and pointed to Ruachost’s nameservers** before requesting the change.
- Remember that changing the primary domain affects **email accounts** tied to the old domain.

  - Example: `info@olddomain.com` will become `info@newdomain.com`.
  - If you later re-add the old domain as an addon, you will need to manually recreate any email accounts.

## How to Update Your Primary Domain

1. Log in to your[ruachost.com](dashboard.ruachost.com)**Client Area**.
2. Open a **support ticket** under **Support**.
3. In your request, include:

   - Your current primary domain.
   - The new domain you want to set.
   - Confirmation that the new domain is not already added as an addon or parked domain.

Our support team will process the change and notify you once it’s complete.

> **Important Notes:**
When you change an account’s **primary domain name** in **Ruachost.com**, it directly affects all existing email accounts that were linked to the old primary domain. For instance, once the primary domain is updated, every email address under the previous domain automatically switches to use the new one.

If you later decide to add the old domain back as an **addon domain**, you’ll need to **manually restore** the previous email accounts by copying their files and data to recreate them as they were before.
