> Use your Ruachost domain with a website built on Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Selar, Webflow and other platforms, while keeping your email with us.

Built your website on a platform like Shopify, Wix or Selar? You can use your Ruachost domain with it. You keep the domain (and your email) with Ruachost, and add a few DNS records that point your website to the platform.

## How it works

Almost every platform asks for the same kinds of records:

- an **A record** for your domain itself (`@`), pointing to the platform's IP address
- a **CNAME record** for `www`, pointing to a name the platform gives you
- sometimes a **TXT** or extra **CNAME** record, to prove you own the domain

> **Leave your email records alone:**
Don't change your **MX** records or delete email-related TXT records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). Your Ruachost email keeps working as long as they stay.

## Steps

1. In the website platform, open its **custom domain** or **connect a domain** settings and choose to connect a domain you already own. Use the **DNS records** or **pointing** option, not a nameserver change, so your email stays with Ruachost.
2. Note the records the platform shows you.
3. In the Ruachost client area, go to **Domains → Manage DNS** and edit your domain (or use cPanel's **Zone Editor**). See [Using the DNS Manager](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/domains/dns/using-dns-manager-to-manage-your-domain/).
4. **Delete** any existing A or AAAA record for `@`, and any existing record for `www`, that would conflict with the new ones.
5. **Add** the records exactly as the platform shows them.
6. Go back to the platform and click **Verify** or **Connect**. It can take from a few minutes to a few hours. See [DNS propagation explained](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/domains/dns/when-can-i-see-changes-in-my-domain-if-i-just-edited-my-dns-records/).

## Platform guides

Each platform keeps its own up-to-date values. Use its official guide for the exact records:

Not listed? Search your platform's help centre for "connect a domain" or "custom domain", and follow the same steps.

## Tips

- **SSL:** the platform issues the SSL certificate for your site once the records are working. You don't need a Ruachost SSL certificate for it.
- **CAA records:** if your domain has CAA records, add the platform's certificate authority, or SSL will fail. If you didn't add CAA records yourself, you can ignore this.
- **Subdomain only?** To use the platform for part of your site only, for example `shop.example.com`, add a CNAME for `shop` instead and leave `@` and `www` pointing to Ruachost.
