**Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI)** is a DNS TXT record that points to your company’s logo file. When properly configured, supported mail clients can display your logo alongside authenticated messages, improving trust and brand recognition.

## Prerequisites

Before creating a BIMI record:

- Configure **SPF** and **DMARC** for your domain.
- Prepare a valid **SVG Tiny Portable/Secure (SVG P/S)** logo file.

  - Guidelines: [Creating bimi svg logo files](https://bimigroup.org/creating-bimi-svg-logo-files/).

## Steps to Create a BIMI Record in cPanel

1. **Log in to cPanel**.
2. On the **Tools page**, in the **Domains** section, click **Zone Editor**.
3. Locate your domain → click **Manage**.
4. Click **Add Record**.
5. Enter the following values:

   - **Name** → `default._bimi` (cPanel will append your domain automatically).
   - **TTL** → `14400`.
   - **Type** → `TXT`.
   - **Record** →

     ```
     v=BIMI1; l=https://example.com/logo.svg
     ```

     *(Replace* `example.com/logo.svg` *with the actual URL to your SVG logo file.)*
6. Click **Save Record**.
7. Allow time for DNS propagation (usually within 24 hours).

## Testing Your BIMI Record

- Use [Mx Toolbox BIMI Lookup](https://mxtoolbox.com/bimi.aspx) to verify the record.
- Ensure your SPF and DMARC records are valid, otherwise BIMI will not function.

> **Note:**
- BIMI is supported only by certain mail providers (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo Mail).
- A **Verified Mark Certificate (VMC)** may be required for full BIMI logo display.
- Incorrectly formatted SVG files or missing DMARC/SPF records will prevent BIMI from working.
