# Email settings for apps and devices (cPanel email)

> The IMAP, POP and SMTP server names, ports and security settings for email that comes with your Ruachost hosting.

Use these settings to add email that comes with your Ruachost hosting to Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, the Gmail app or your phone. Replace `yourdomain.com` with your domain.

> **Note:**
Using **Ruachost Business Email**? Its settings are different. See [Access parameters](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/email/business-email/access-parameters/).

> **Get your settings automatically:**
Enter your email address in our [Email settings tool](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/tools/email-settings/) and it shows the right settings for your email, ready to copy.

## Settings

| Setting | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Username** | Your full email address, e.g. `hello@yourdomain.com` |
| **Password** | That email account's password |
| **Incoming server** | `mail.yourdomain.com` |
| **IMAP port** (recommended) | `993`, SSL/TLS |
| **POP3 port** | `995`, SSL/TLS |
| **Outgoing (SMTP) server** | `mail.yourdomain.com` |
| **SMTP port** | `465`, SSL/TLS (or `587`, STARTTLS). If your network blocks both, try `2525` |
| **SMTP authentication** | On: use the same username and password as incoming |

**Use IMAP** if you check email on more than one device. It keeps your mail on the server, so every device stays in sync. POP downloads mail to one device and usually removes it from the server.

## Get the exact settings from cPanel

cPanel shows the settings for each account, and can set up some apps automatically:

1. In cPanel, open **Email Accounts**.
2. Click **Connect Devices** next to the account.
3. Use the settings shown under **Mail Client Manual Settings**, or download an auto-configuration file for Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird.

If your app warns that the certificate doesn't match `mail.yourdomain.com`, use the **secure server name** shown in **Connect Devices** instead, which is the server's own hostname.

Sent messages not showing in webmail? See [Sent emails missing from the Sent folder](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/email/guides/sent-emails-missing-from-sent-folder/).

## Before your domain points to Ruachost

`mail.yourdomain.com` only works once your domain points to us. Until then, use your server's hostname from your welcome email (also shown in **Connect Devices**).
