> Get back emails you deleted by mistake, from Trash, from your account's automatic backups, or from Business Email backups.

## 1. Check Trash and other folders

Deleted messages go to **Trash** first. Open webmail, go to Trash, select the messages and **move** them back to your inbox. Also search **All folders**: messages are sometimes archived or moved by a filter, not deleted.

Some email apps empty Trash automatically after a set number of days, so act quickly.

## 2. Restore from backups (email with hosting)

If Trash has been emptied, your hosting account's automatic backups may still have the messages:

1. Log in to cPanel and open **JetBackup** (under **Files** or **JetBackup**).
2. Choose **Email Backups**.
3. Pick a backup date from before the messages were deleted, select the email account, and click **Restore**.

Restoring adds the old messages back without removing newer ones. See [Restoring files, email, and databases using JetBackup](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/cpanel/files/restoring-files-email-and-databases-using-jetbackup/).

## 3. Ruachost Business Email

Business Email includes account backup. Ask your administrator, or [open a support ticket](https://dashboard.ruachost.com/submitticket.php), with the mailbox, the folder and roughly when the messages were deleted.

## Messages deleted from a POP device

If a phone or computer used **POP**, it may have removed messages from the server after downloading them. Check that device: the messages may still be stored there. Then switch it to **IMAP** to stop it happening again. See [Email settings for apps and devices](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/email/guides/cpanel-email-settings/).

## Keep your own copy
