**No.** lighttpd is not supported on Ruachost shared hosting.

lighttpd is a separate web server program. On shared hosting, the web server is set up and managed for everyone on the server, so you can't install or run your own.

## What we use instead

Ruachost hosting uses **LiteSpeed**, a fast web server that is compatible with Apache. This means:

- Your `.htaccess` files work, including rewrite rules for WordPress and other applications.
- Pages load quickly, even when lots of visitors arrive at once.
- You can use the **LiteSpeed Cache** plugin to speed up WordPress further.

If you're moving a site that used lighttpd, convert any lighttpd rewrite rules to Apache-style rules in a `.htaccess` file.
