# Do you support Telnet?

> No. Telnet isn't supported on Ruachost hosting because it isn't encrypted. Use SSH for secure command-line access to your account instead.

**No.** Telnet is not supported for accessing your hosting account.

Telnet sends everything, including your username and password, as plain text. Anyone who can see the network traffic could read your login details.

## Use SSH instead

Ruachost hosting includes **SSH (Secure Shell)** access. SSH gives you the same command-line access as Telnet, but the whole connection is encrypted.

With SSH you can:

- Run commands on your account, for example to manage files or use Git.
- Copy files securely with tools such as `scp`, `sftp` or `rsync`.
- Log in with SSH keys instead of a password for extra security.

To connect, you need your cPanel username and an SSH client. Mac and Linux include one in the Terminal, and recent versions of Windows include one in PowerShell.

```bash
ssh username@yourdomain.com
```
