**Yes.** Email on Ruachost hosting supports **IMAP IDLE**.

## What is IMAP IDLE?

Without IMAP IDLE, your email app checks the server for new messages every few minutes. With IMAP IDLE, your app keeps a connection open and the server tells it the moment a new message arrives. Email appears faster, and your app makes fewer connections.

## How to use it

You don't need to switch anything on in cPanel. Just set up your email app with **IMAP**, not POP3:

- **Incoming server:** `mail.yourdomain.com`
- **Port:** 993 with SSL
- **Username:** your full email address

Most modern apps, including Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook and the mail apps on iPhone and Android, use IMAP IDLE automatically when the server supports it. Some apps call it **push** email. If new messages only appear when you click **Send/Receive**, check your app's account settings for a push or IDLE option.
