## Forgot your password

1. Go to the [client area login page](https://dashboard.ruachost.com/index.php?rp=/login) and click **Forgot password?**
2. Enter your account's email address and click **Submit**.
3. Open the email from `noreply@ruachost.com` and click the reset link. The link expires after a while, so use it soon.
4. Choose a new password and save it.

**No email?** Check your spam folder, wait a few minutes, and make sure you used the email address your account is registered with. If you signed up with Google or Facebook, you can sign in with that instead. If you can no longer get into that email account, see [Recovering account access](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/getting-started/client-area/recovering-account-access/).

## Change your password while logged in

1. Log in to the [client area](https://dashboard.ruachost.com/clientarea.php).
2. Click your name in the top-right corner and choose **Change Password**.
3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice.
4. Click **Save Changes**.

## Choose a strong password

- At least 12 characters, mixing words, numbers and symbols
- Not used for any other website or account
- Saved in a password manager, so you don't need to remember it

Then turn on [two-factor authentication](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/getting-started/client-area/how-to-activate-two-factor-authentication-2fa-on-your-ruachost-account/) for extra protection. See also [Creating a strong password](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/ssl-security/website-security/creating-a-strong-password/).

## Which password is which?

Your Ruachost account has several separate passwords:

| Password | Used for | Where to change it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Client area** | Logging in at dashboard.ruachost.com | Client area → your name → **Change Password** |
| **cPanel** | Logging in to cPanel directly | Client area → your hosting plan → **Change Password** |
| **Email accounts** | Each mailbox on your domain | cPanel → **Email Accounts** → **Manage** |
| **WordPress** | Your website's dashboard | WordPress → **Users → Profile** |

Changing one doesn't change the others.
