All-in-One WP Migration is a popular plugin for moving WordPress sites. Large sites often hit limits or time-outs. Here's how to fix the common problems.

We'll move your website for free, including WordPress, databases and email. See [Moving your website to Ruachost](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/getting-started/guides/migrating-an-account-from-another-web-host-to-ruachost/).

## Export problems (on your old host)

### "Unable to export" or the export stops

- **Not enough disk space** on the old host. The export file is created on the server first. Free up space, or exclude large items.
- **Time-outs or memory limits** on the old host. Try again at a quieter time.
- **A plugin conflicts.** Temporarily deactivate security and caching plugins, then export again.

### Make the export smaller

Under **Advanced options** when exporting, you can tick:

- **Do not export spam comments** and **post revisions**
- **Do not export cache files**
- **Do not export media library** (copy `wp-content/uploads` separately with FTP instead)

Large backup folders from other plugins, such as `wp-content/updraft` or `wp-content/ai1wm-backups`, also make exports huge. Delete old backups first.

## Import problems (on Ruachost)

### "Maximum upload file size" is too small

The free plugin may show a low limit. On Ruachost hosting, PHP allows uploads up to **512 MB** by default, and you can raise it to 2 GB in cPanel under **Select PHP Version → Options**: set `upload_max_filesize` and `post_max_size`. See [Changing your PHP version and settings](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/cpanel/software/changing-php-versions-and-settings-using-php-selector/).

For files larger than your browser upload allows:

1. Upload the `.wpress` file with FTP or File Manager to `wp-content/ai1wm-backups/` on the new site.
2. In WordPress, go to **All-in-One WP Migration → Backups**. Your file appears in the list.
3. Click the file's menu and choose **Restore**.

### The import is stuck at a percentage

- Wait a few minutes: large sites take a while.
- Reload the page and try again, using the **Backups** method above, which avoids browser upload time-outs.
- Check that your account has enough free disk space: you need roughly **three times** the size of the `.wpress` file during the import.

### After the import

1. Log in with the **old site's** username and password: they're imported too.
2. Go to **Settings → Permalinks** and click **Save Changes** twice.
3. Clear your caches. See [Clearing your cache](https://helpcenter.ruachost.com/getting-started/website-troubleshooting/clearing-your-cache/).
