A **favicon** is the small icon that appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, and address bars. By default, WordPress may display a generic icon or your theme’s default logo. On **ruachost.com**, you can easily change the favicon to match your brand identity.

## Why Change the Favicon?

- Strengthens brand recognition.
- Makes your site stand out in browser tabs.
- Provides a professional look for visitors.

## Method 1: Using WordPress Customizer (Recommended)

1. **Log in to WordPress** as an administrator.
2. In the dashboard, go to **Appearance → Customize**.
3. Select **Site Identity**.
4. Under **Site Icon**, click **Select Image**.

   - Recommended size: **512 × 512 pixels**.
   - Supported formats: `.png`, `.jpg`, `.ico`.
5. Upload your favicon image.
6. Click **Publish** to save changes.

✅ Your favicon will now appear in the browser tab.

## Method 2: Using a Plugin

If your theme does not support site icons:

1. Install a plugin such as **Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator**.
2. Configure the plugin to upload and generate favicons for multiple devices (desktop, mobile, tablets).
3. Save changes → The favicon will be applied site‑wide.

## Method 3: Manual Upload (Advanced Users)

1. Create a favicon image (`favicon.ico`).
2. Upload it to the **root directory** of your WordPress installation (`public_html`).
3. Edit your theme’s **header.php** file and add:

   ```
   <link rel="icon" href="<?php echo get_site_url(); ?>/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
   ```
4. Save changes → Clear browser cache to see the new favicon.

> **Note:**
- Always clear your browser and WordPress cache after changing the favicon.
- Use a square image for best results.
- For multi‑device support, plugins like RealFaviconGenerator are recommended.
