There are several scenarios where you may need to change your WordPress site’s URL for example, moving from **HTTP to HTTPS**, migrating to a new domain, or shifting WordPress from a subdirectory to the root domain. On **ruachost.com**, you can update the URL directly in the database using **phpMyAdmin**.

## Common Reasons to Change the URL

- Migrating WordPress to a new domain.
- Switching from `http://` to `https://` for SSL security.
- Moving WordPress from a local environment to a live site.
- Relocating WordPress to a different directory.

## Steps to Change the WordPress Site URL Using phpMyAdmin

1. **Log in to cPanel** (or your hosting control panel).
2. In the **Databases** section, click **phpMyAdmin**.
3. Select your WordPress database from the left sidebar.

   - Typically named `username_wpXXX` (where `XXX` is a three‑digit number).
4. Click the table `wp_options` (prefix may vary).
5. Locate the rows for:

   - ### siteurl
   - ### home
6. Click the **Edit (pencil icon)** next to each.
7. Update the **option_value** field with your new site URL.

   - Example: `https://example.com`
   - ⚠️ Do not add a trailing slash (`/`) at the end.
8. Click **Go** to save changes.

✅ WordPress should now function correctly using the new URL.

## Important Notes

- Enter the correct URL—mistakes can make your site inaccessible.
- Always back up your database before making changes.
- If you cannot access phpMyAdmin, you can also update the URL via **wp‑config.php** or the **WordPress dashboard (Settings → General)**.
- Clear your browser cache and WordPress cache after making changes.
