WordPress includes an **auto‑save feature** that periodically saves drafts of your posts and pages. By default, auto‑save occurs every **60 seconds**. On **ruachost.com**, you can change this interval to suit your workflow by editing the configuration files.

## Why Change the Auto‑Save Interval?

- Reduce server load by increasing the interval.
- Avoid frequent interruptions while editing.
- Ensure drafts are saved more often to minimize data loss.

## Steps to Change the Auto‑Save Interval

1. **Log in to cPanel.**

   - In the **Files** section, click **File Manager**.
2. **Navigate to WordPress Directory.**

   - Typically located in `public_html`.
3. **Edit wp-config.php..**

   - Right‑click `wp-config.php` → **Edit**.
4. **Add Auto‑Save Interval Line.**

   - Insert the following line before:

     ```
     require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');
     ```
   - Code:

     ```
     define('AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL', 120);
     ```
   - Replace `120` with the number of seconds you want between auto‑saves.

   Examples:

   - `define('AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL', 30);` → Auto‑save every 30 seconds.
   - `define('AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL', 300);` → Auto‑save every 5 minutes.
5. **Save Changes.**

> **Note:**
- The default interval is **60 seconds**.
- Setting a very short interval may increase server load.
- Setting a very long interval increases the risk of losing unsaved changes.
- Always back up your site before editing `wp-config.php`.
