WordPress allows you to customize how dates and times are displayed across your site. This includes setting your time zone, choosing date/time formats, and defining when your week starts. On **ruachost.com**, you can configure these settings directly from the WordPress dashboard.

## Why Configure Date and Time?

- Ensures posts and scheduled content publish at the correct local time.
- Displays dates/times in formats familiar to your audience.
- Helps with accurate analytics and reporting.

## Steps to Configure Date and Time Settings

1. **Log in to WordPress** as the administrator.
2. In the left‑hand menu, click **Settings → General**.
3. Scroll down to the **Timezone** section.

   - Select your region from the dropdown list (grouped by Africa, America, Asia, Europe, etc.).
   - WordPress uses UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) by default, but you can set your local time zone.
4. **Set Date Format.**

   - Choose one of the predefined formats (e.g., `April 30, 2014`).
   - Or define a custom format using PHP date formatting strings.

     - Example:

       ```
       l, M j, Y
       ```

       Displays as: `Wednesday, Apr 30, 2014`.
5. **Set Time Format.**

   - Choose one of the predefined formats (e.g., `2:42 pm`).
   - Or define a custom format using PHP time formatting strings.
6. **Set Week Start Day.**

   - Choose the day your week begins (commonly Sunday or Monday).
7. **Save Changes.**

   - Click **Save Changes** at the bottom of the page.
   - New settings take effect immediately.

> **Note:**
- Custom formats use PHP date/time syntax. A full list is available in the WordPress Codex.
- Scheduled posts rely on your time zone setting and incorrect settings may cause posts to publish at unexpected times.
- Always verify your time zone after migrating your site to a new server.
