By default, WordPress automatically saves your post or page every 60 seconds while you are editing. This feature helps prevent data loss but can also create multiple post revisions, increasing database size and potentially slowing down your site. On **ruachost.com**, you can disable the auto save option if you prefer to manage revisions manually.

## Why Disable Auto Save?

- Prevents unnecessary database bloat from frequent revisions.
- Improves site performance on large or busy sites.
- Gives you full control over when content is saved.

## Steps to Disable Auto Save

1. **Log in to WordPress** as the administrator.
2. In the dashboard, go to **Appearance → Theme Editor**.
3. From the right‑hand column, select the file named **functions.php**.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the file and add the following code:

   ```
   function no_autosave() {
       wp_deregister_script('autosave');
   }
   add_action('wp_print_scripts', 'no_autosave');
   ```
5. Click **Update File** to save changes.

✅ WordPress will no longer auto save posts or pages every 60 seconds.

> **Note:**
- Disabling auto save means you must manually save your work often to avoid losing changes.
- Consider adjusting the **auto save interval** instead of disabling it completely if you want fewer revisions but still some protection.
- Always back up your site before editing theme files.
- Use a **child theme** to avoid losing changes during theme updates.
