WordPress includes a built‑in comment system that allows visitors to leave feedback on your posts. As an administrator, you can approve, edit, reply to, or delete comments directly from the dashboard. On **ruachost.com**, you can also manage large volumes of comments using phpMyAdmin.

## Why Manage Comments?

- Encourage community engagement.
- Prevent spam from appearing on your site.
- Maintain a professional and moderated discussion environment.

## Managing Comments via WordPress Admin

1. **Log in to WordPress** as the administrator.
2. In the dashboard, click **Comments**.
3. WordPress displays all comments across your posts.
4. Use filters to view specific categories:

   - **Pending** → Comments awaiting review.
   - **Approved** → Comments already published.
   - **Spam** → Comments flagged as spam.
   - **Trash** → Comments marked for deletion.

### Actions Available

- **Approve** → Makes the comment visible to the public.
- **Unapprove** → Hides the comment from public view.
- **Reply** → Allows you to respond directly.

- **Trash** → Moves the comment to the trash bin.

## Deleting Comments via phpMyAdmin

For sites with hundreds of spam comments, it may be faster to delete them directly from the database.

1. Log in to **cPanel** at **ruachost.com**.
2. Under **Databases**, click **phpMyAdmin**.
3. Select your WordPress database (usually named `username_wpXXX`).
4. Click the **wp_comments** table.
5. To group comments by post, click the **comment_post_ID** heading.
6. To delete:

   - **Single comment** → Click **Delete** in the row.
   - **Multiple comments** → Select checkboxes → Click **Delete** under **With selected**.
7. Confirm deletion.

⚠️ **Important:** If you receive many spam comments, consider adding **CAPTCHA protection** to reduce them significantly.

> **Note:**
- Always back up your database before bulk deletions.
- Use plugins like **Akismet** or **Antispam Bee** for automated spam filtering.
- Comments can be disabled entirely under **Settings → Discussion**.
