Starting with WordPress 5.8, the traditional **Widget Editor** was replaced with the **Widget Block Editor**. This new editor allows you to manage widget areas using the same block‑based interface as the Gutenberg editor. On **ruachost.com**, you can use the Widget Block Editor to add, remove, and customize widgets more flexibly.

## Why Use the Widget Block Editor?

- Provides a modern, block‑based interface for widgets.
- Allows you to use any Gutenberg block in widget areas.
- Offers more customization options (layouts, styling, embeds).
- Improves consistency between post/page editing and widget editing.

## Steps to Edit Widget Areas with the Block Editor

1. **Log in to WordPress** with an administrator account.
2. In the dashboard, go to **Appearance → Widgets**.
3. The **Widget Block Editor** will open.
4. Select the widget area you want to edit (e.g., Sidebar, Footer).
5. Click the **+ (Add Block)** button to insert a new block.

   - You can add traditional widgets (Search, Categories, Recent Posts).
   - Or add Gutenberg blocks (Paragraph, Image, Buttons, etc.).
6. Rearrange blocks by dragging and dropping them.
7. Configure block settings in the right‑hand panel (alignment, colors, typography).
8. Click **Update** to save changes.

✅ Your widget area will now display the updated blocks on the front end of your site.

## Important Notes

- Some older themes may not fully support the Widget Block Editor.
- If you prefer the classic widget interface, you can install the **Classic Widgets plugin**.
- Always preview changes to ensure widgets display correctly across devices.
