**Widgets** are small blocks that add functionality and features to your WordPress site. They can be placed in sidebars, footers, or other widget‑ready areas defined by your theme. On **ruachost.com**, widgets make it easy to customize your site without writing code.

## Why Use Widgets?

- Add dynamic content such as calendars, recent posts, or search bars.
- Enhance navigation with menus, categories, and tag clouds.
- Integrate social media feeds or external services.
- Improve user experience with quick access to tools and information.

## Steps to Add and Manage Widgets

1. **Log in to WordPress** with an administrator account.
2. In the dashboard, go to **Appearance → Widgets**.
3. The **Widgets page** will display:

   - **Available Widgets** → List of all widgets you can use.
   - **Widget Areas** → Sidebars, footers, or other areas defined by your theme.
4. To add a widget:

   - Drag a widget from **Available Widgets** into a **Widget Area**.
   - Configure the widget’s settings (title, options, etc.).
   - Save changes.
5. To rearrange widgets:

   - Drag and drop them within the **Widget Area**.
6. To remove a widget:

   - Drag it back to **Available Widgets** or move it to **Inactive Widgets** (to preserve settings).

## Important Notes

- Not all themes support the same widget areas.
- Many plugins add their own widgets when installed.
- Use the **Widget Block Editor** (introduced in newer WordPress versions) for more advanced customization.
