Do you support lighttpd?

No. lighttpd is not supported on Ruachost shared hosting.

lighttpd is a separate web server program. On shared hosting, the web server is set up and managed for everyone on the server, so you can’t install or run your own.

What we use instead

Ruachost hosting uses LiteSpeed, a fast web server that is compatible with Apache. This means:

  • Your .htaccess files work, including rewrite rules for WordPress and other applications.
  • Pages load quickly, even when lots of visitors arrive at once.
  • You can use the LiteSpeed Cache plugin to speed up WordPress further.

If you’re moving a site that used lighttpd, convert any lighttpd rewrite rules to Apache-style rules in a .htaccess file.
