Ordering hosting for your clients

If you build websites for clients, there are two ways to set up their hosting with Ruachost. Choose the one that suits how you work.
Option 1: Your client buys it in their own account (recommended)
Section titled “Option 1: Your client buys it in their own account (recommended)”The client owns the account and pays the invoices; you manage the website.
- Send your client your affiliate link and tell them which plan to choose.
- They create a Ruachost account and buy the hosting. You earn 30% commission on the hosting.
- They invite you through User Management, so you can log in and manage everything with your own login. See Giving someone access to your account.
Best for: most client projects. Renewals and invoices go to the client, and there’s nothing to hand over when the project ends.
Option 2: You buy it, then move it to the client
Section titled “Option 2: You buy it, then move it to the client”You buy the hosting in your own account, build the site, then hand it over.
- Buy the hosting in your own Ruachost account and build the website.
- When the project is finished, ask us to move the hosting (and domain) to your client’s Ruachost account. See Moving services to another Ruachost account.
Best for: when you need to start work before the client has paid you.
Tips for handing over a website
Section titled “Tips for handing over a website”- Register the client’s domain in their name, so they legally own it. See Updating your domain contact details.
- Give the client the cPanel and email passwords, or ask them to reset them after handover.
- Show them where to find invoices and renewal dates, so their website doesn’t expire.
- Keep your User Management access only as long as you’re looking after the site.
