Updating your domain contact details
Every domain has contact details stored with the registry: the registrant (the legal owner), plus administrative, technical and billing contacts. Keeping them accurate matters:
- Transfer approvals and renewal notices are sent to these contacts.
- Registries require accurate details. Wrong or unverified details can lead to your domain being suspended.
- If there’s ever a dispute, the registrant is the legal owner of the domain.
Update your contact details
Section titled “Update your contact details”- Log in to the client area.
- Go to Domains → My Domains and select your domain.
- Open Contact Information.
- Update the details for each contact. To copy your account details into a contact, choose Use existing account contact.
- Click Save Changes.
Changes are sent to the registry straight away.
Changing the owner (registrant)
Section titled “Changing the owner (registrant)”To hand a domain to a new owner, for example after selling a business, you can update the registrant details yourself as above. If the new owner also has a Ruachost account, we can move the domain to their account.
Proof of ownership
Section titled “Proof of ownership”Ruachost doesn’t issue domain registration certificates. Your domain’s registration details in the client area, and its public WHOIS or registry record, are your proof of ownership. See Checking a domain’s WHOIS and nameservers.
