Greylisting in cPanel
Greylisting is turned on for all Ruachost email accounts. It blocks a large share of spam before it reaches your inbox.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The first time an unknown server sends email to your domain, our server politely asks it to try again a few minutes later. Real mail servers retry automatically, and the message is delivered. Most spam tools never retry, so their messages never arrive.
After a sender has passed this check once, their future emails arrive straight away.
What you might notice
Section titled “What you might notice”- The first email from a new sender can arrive a few minutes late, occasionally longer if the sending server waits a while before retrying.
- One-time codes, sign-up confirmations and password-reset emails from a service you haven’t heard from before may take longer than usual.
This is normal and the email isn’t lost. If a message from a new sender seems to be missing, wait 15–30 minutes before asking them to resend it.
Turn greylisting off for a domain
Section titled “Turn greylisting off for a domain”If delays cause problems, for example when you rely on fast verification codes, you can turn greylisting off for any of your domains:
- Log in to cPanel.
- Under Email, open Greylisting.
- Find your domain and switch its toggle off.
Changes take effect immediately. You can switch it back on at any time.
If you can’t see Greylisting in cPanel, open a support ticket and we’ll change it for you.
