Email settings for apps and devices (cPanel email)
Use these settings to add email that comes with your Ruachost hosting to Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, the Gmail app or your phone. Replace yourdomain.com with your domain.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Your full email address, e.g. hello@yourdomain.com |
| Password | That email account’s password |
| Incoming server | mail.yourdomain.com |
| IMAP port (recommended) | 993, SSL/TLS |
| POP3 port | 995, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing (SMTP) server | mail.yourdomain.com |
| SMTP port | 465, SSL/TLS (or 587, STARTTLS) |
| SMTP authentication | On: use the same username and password as incoming |
Use IMAP if you check email on more than one device. It keeps your mail on the server, so every device stays in sync. POP downloads mail to one device and usually removes it from the server.
Get the exact settings from cPanel
Section titled “Get the exact settings from cPanel”cPanel shows the settings for each account, and can set up some apps automatically:
- In cPanel, open Email Accounts.
- Click Connect Devices next to the account.
- Use the settings shown under Mail Client Manual Settings, or download an auto-configuration file for Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird.
If your app warns that the certificate doesn’t match mail.yourdomain.com, use the secure server name shown in Connect Devices instead, which is the server’s own hostname.
Before your domain points to Ruachost
Section titled “Before your domain points to Ruachost”mail.yourdomain.com only works once your domain points to us. Until then, use your server’s hostname from your welcome email (also shown in Connect Devices).
