Pointing your domain to Ruachost from another registrar

Your domain doesn’t have to be registered with Ruachost to use our hosting. If it’s registered with another company, point it to us by changing its nameservers at that company to:

nsa.ruachost.com
nsb.ruachost.com

Your domain stays registered with the other company, and you keep renewing it there. Your website and email are then served by Ruachost.

  • Add the domain to your hosting. Choose it when you order hosting, or add it in cPanel under Domains.
  • Email elsewhere? Changing nameservers moves all your DNS to Ruachost. If your email is hosted somewhere else, such as Google Workspace, add its MX and TXT records in cPanel’s Zone Editor first.
  • Turn off DNSSEC at your current registrar if it’s on. Otherwise your domain may stop working after the switch.
  1. Log in to your account at the company where the domain is registered.
  2. Find the domain’s Nameservers setting (sometimes called DNS, Custom DNS or Manage Nameservers).
  3. Choose to use custom nameservers.
  4. Replace the existing nameservers with nsa.ruachost.com and nsb.ruachost.com. Remove any others.
  5. Save.

The change usually takes effect within a few hours, and can take up to 24–48 hours. See DNS propagation explained.

Can’t find the setting? Ask your registrar’s support team to set the nameservers to nsa.ruachost.com and nsb.ruachost.com.

Domains registered with Cloudflare must use Cloudflare’s nameservers. Instead of changing nameservers, add records in your Cloudflare DNS: an A record for @ pointing to your Ruachost hosting IP, and a CNAME for www pointing to your domain. See Cloudflare’s Registrar FAQ.

You can transfer your domain to Ruachost, or for Nigerian domains, transfer your .ng domain.
