MySQL User Privileges on Shared Servers
Get details on the MySQL privileges available on shared hosting accounts, including links to related resources.
This article explains the MySQL privileges granted to users on shared and reseller hosting accounts.
MySQL User Privileges
For security and performance reasons, shared and reseller hosting accounts do not have MySQL superuser access. Instead, users are granted the following privileges:
- ALTER
- CREATE
- CREATE ROUTINE
- CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES
- CREATE VIEW
- DELETE
- DROP
- EXECUTE
- INDEX
- INSERT
- LOCK TABLES
- REFERENCES
- SELECT
- SHOW VIEW
- TRIGGER
- UPDATE
MySQL Event Scheduler
Shared accounts cannot use the MySQL Event Scheduler. Granting additional privileges or enabling the Event Scheduler in a shared environment could create security risks and high resource usage, potentially affecting other accounts.
The MySQL Event Scheduler can be enabled on:
- Managed VPS and managed dedicated servers
- Unmanaged VPS accounts (configurable by the user)
