E-mail messages do not forward to Gmail accounts
Sometimes, when you set up an e‑mail forwarder in cPanel to redirect messages to a Gmail account, the messages never arrive or they end up in Gmail’s spam folder. This is a common issue due to how Gmail handles forwarded mail.
Problem
Section titled “Problem”-
Gmail may block forwarded messages or mark them as spam.
-
Example: You configure
user@example.comto forward touser@gmail.com.- If someone sends mail to
user@example.com, Gmail may reject or filter it.
- If someone sends mail to
-
Another scenario: If you send a message from Gmail → to your domain → forwarded back to Gmail, it will not arrive.
- This is by design to prevent mail loops.
Resolution
Section titled “Resolution”Instead of using cPanel forwarders, configure Gmail to directly access your hosting account’s mailbox:
-
Log in to Gmail.
-
Go to Settings → See all settings → Accounts and Import.
-
Under Check mail from other accounts, click Add a mail account.
-
Enter your hosted e‑mail address (e.g.,
user@example.com). -
Provide the POP3 server details (from your Ruachost Dashboard or cPanel).
-
Enter your e‑mail account’s username and password.
-
Choose whether to:
- Leave a copy of messages on the server.
- Label incoming messages.
- Archive messages automatically.
-
Save settings.
Gmail will now fetch messages directly from your hosting account, bypassing the forwarder issue.
