How to change domain nameservers
Nameservers tell the internet where to find your domain’s website and email. To use your domain with Ruachost hosting, its nameservers must be:
nsa.ruachost.comnsb.ruachost.comIf your domain is registered with Ruachost
Section titled “If your domain is registered with Ruachost”- Log in to the client area.
- Go to Domains → My Domains and select your domain.
- Open Nameservers.
- Choose Use default nameservers to use Ruachost’s, or Use custom nameservers and enter others, such as Cloudflare’s.
- Click Change Nameservers.
If your domain is registered with another company
Section titled “If your domain is registered with another company”Log in to your domain registrar’s control panel, find the nameserver or DNS settings for the domain, and replace the existing nameservers with nsa.ruachost.com and nsb.ruachost.com. Remove any others, then save.
The setting is usually called Nameservers, DNS or Custom DNS. If you can’t find it, ask your registrar’s support team to change it for you. For GoDaddy, see Setting the name servers for a domain registered at GoDaddy.
Prefer to manage everything in one place? Transfer the domain to Ruachost.
How long it takes
Section titled “How long it takes”Nameserver changes usually take effect within a few hours, but can take up to 24–48 hours to reach every network. During that time, some visitors may still see your old website. See DNS propagation explained
To check which nameservers your domain uses now, see Checking a domain’s WHOIS and nameservers.
Things to know
Section titled “Things to know”- Email: when you switch nameservers, your domain’s DNS records (including email MX records) are now managed at Ruachost. If your email is hosted somewhere else, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, add its records in cPanel’s Zone Editor before or straight after you switch.
- Don’t change nameservers during a domain transfer. Change them before or after.
- Want to keep your current DNS provider? Instead of changing nameservers, add an A record pointing to your Ruachost server’s IP address. See Finding the IP address for your hosting account.
