Do you support the Xdebug PECL package?
No. We do not support the Xdebug PECL package, or any other PECL packages, on shared hosting accounts.
What is Xdebug?
Section titled “What is Xdebug?”Xdebug is a PHP extension for debugging and profiling code. It lets developers step through code line by line and measure performance. It also slows PHP down significantly, which is why it’s not suitable for shared servers where many sites run together.
Alternatives
Section titled “Alternatives”- Debug locally: install PHP with Xdebug on your own computer (for example with XAMPP, Laragon, MAMP or Docker), and upload your code once it works.
- Use a Managed VPS: on a VPS you control the PHP configuration and can install PECL extensions yourself.
- Use logging: turn on PHP error logging in cPanel and check your error log to find problems on your live site.
