Adding a language pack in OpenCart

OpenCart supports multiple languages, allowing you to serve customers worldwide. On ruachost.com, you can install and configure language packs to provide a localized shopping experience.

Steps to Add a Language Pack in OpenCart

Step 1: Download the Language Pack

  1. Visit the OpenCart Marketplace.
  2. Search for the desired language pack (e.g., French, Spanish, German).
  3. Download the extension file (*.ocmod.zip).

Step 2: Install the Language Pack

  1. Log in to OpenCart Administrator.
  2. On the dashboard, in the left sidebar, click Extensions → Installer.
  3. Upload the *.ocmod.zip language extension file.
  4. Wait for the installation process to complete.
  5. Click Refresh to rebuild the modification cache.

Step 3: Configure the Language

  1. On the dashboard, in the left sidebar, click System → Localisation → Languages.

  2. Click Add New.

  3. Fill in the required fields:

    • Language Name (e.g., French).
    • Code (e.g., fr).
    • Locale (e.g., fr_FR.UTF-8,fr_FR,fr-fr,french).
    • Status → Set to Enabled.
    • Sort Order → Define display order if multiple languages are installed.

  4. Save changes.

Step 4: Display Language Options

  • Customers will now see a language dropdown on your storefront.
  • They can select their preferred language to browse products and checkout.
