Moving services to another Ruachost account
You can move hosting plans, domains, SSL certificates and other services from one Ruachost account to another. This is useful when:
- a web developer hands a finished website over to their client
- a business changes owner
- you have two Ruachost accounts and want everything in one
It’s an internal move, so there’s no downtime: websites, email, DNS and files stay exactly as they are.
Move services to another account
Section titled “Move services to another account”- Make sure the person receiving the services has their own Ruachost account.
- Log in to the account that currently holds the services and open a support ticket. Include:
- which services to move (for example the hosting plan and its domain)
- the email address of the Ruachost account they should move to
- We’ll ask both account holders to confirm, then move the services.
The services must be active, with no unpaid invoices.
Merge two accounts into one
Section titled “Merge two accounts into one”If you have two Ruachost accounts, for example after signing up again with a different email, we can move all services from one into the other.
- Open a support ticket from the account you want to keep.
- Tell us the email address of the other account, and confirm from that account too (reply from its email address, or open a ticket while logged in to it).
- We move all services across. Once the old account is empty, we can close it for you.
Old invoices stay in the account that paid them. Download any you need before asking us to close an account.
After the move
Section titled “After the move”- Domains: the new owner should check the domain’s contact details and update the registrant to their own name.
- Renewals: future invoices go to the new account.
- Passwords: the new owner should change the cPanel password and any email passwords they were given. See Changing or resetting your client area password.
Just need to share access?
Section titled “Just need to share access?”If you only want someone to help manage your services, you don’t need to move them. See Giving someone access to your account.
