Cancelling a domain, refunds and typos
Cancel within 24 hours for a refund
Section titled “Cancel within 24 hours for a refund”New .com and .ng domain registrations (including .com.ng and the other .ng extensions) can be cancelled for a refund within 24 hours of purchase.
- Log in to the client area.
- Open a support ticket within 24 hours of buying the domain.
- Tell us the domain name and that you’d like to cancel it.
After 24 hours, domain registrations can’t be refunded. The registry charges us as soon as the domain is registered.
Spelled it wrong?
Section titled “Spelled it wrong?”A registered domain name can’t be edited or renamed. If you’ve made a typo:
- Within 24 hours: ask us to cancel it for a refund (see above), then register the correct name.
- After 24 hours: register the correct name, and simply let the misspelled one expire. It can be useful to keep it, and redirect it to the right domain, since people make the same typos.
Stop a domain from renewing
Section titled “Stop a domain from renewing”If you no longer need a domain, you don’t need to delete it. Turn off auto-renew and let it expire:
- Go to Domains → My Domains and select the domain.
- Open Auto Renew and click Disable Auto Renew.
The domain stays active until its expiry date, then goes through the normal expiry process before it’s released. See Domain life cycle for .com and other international domains or the .ng domain name life cycle.
