Your free SSL certificate (AutoSSL with Let's Encrypt)
Every Ruachost hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate for each domain and subdomain on your account. It’s issued by Let’s Encrypt through cPanel’s AutoSSL, installed automatically, and renewed automatically before it expires. You don’t need to buy or install anything.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- When you add a domain to your hosting and it points to Ruachost, AutoSSL requests a certificate from Let’s Encrypt and installs it, usually within a few hours.
- It covers the domain and its common subdomains, such as
www, mailandwebmail, as long as they point to your hosting. - Let’s Encrypt certificates are valid for 90 days. AutoSSL renews them automatically about a month before they expire.
Check your SSL status
Section titled “Check your SSL status”- Log in to cPanel.
- Under Security, open SSL/TLS Status.
- Each domain shows a status:
- Green padlock, “AutoSSL Domain Validated”: your free SSL is active.
- Red or yellow, with an error: AutoSSL couldn’t issue a certificate yet. Hover over the error for the reason, then see Why AutoSSL didn’t issue a certificate.
Run AutoSSL now
Section titled “Run AutoSSL now”AutoSSL runs on its own every day. To run it straight away, for example right after pointing a new domain to us:
- Open SSL/TLS Status in cPanel.
- Click Run AutoSSL.
- Wait a few minutes, then refresh the page.
Make your site use HTTPS
Section titled “Make your site use HTTPS”Having SSL installed doesn’t automatically send visitors to https://. To do that, see How to force HTTPS on your website. For WordPress, also set your site address to https:// in Settings → General.
Free SSL or paid SSL?
Section titled “Free SSL or paid SSL?”The free certificate encrypts your site just as strongly as a paid one. A paid Sectigo certificate from Ruachost adds:
- Organisation (OV) or Extended (EV) validation: your verified business name in the certificate, for extra trust on e-commerce, banking and government sites
- Wildcard cover for every subdomain (
*.example.com) in one certificate - a warranty and a site seal you can display
- a longer validity period with no 90-day renewals
