Adding a Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) record in cPanel

Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) is a DNS TXT record that points to your company’s logo file. When properly configured, supported mail clients can display your logo alongside authenticated messages, improving trust and brand recognition.

Before creating a BIMI record:

  • Configure SPF and DMARC for your domain.

  • Prepare a valid SVG Tiny Portable/Secure (SVG P/S) logo file.

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. On the Tools page, in the Domains section, click Zone Editor.

  3. Locate your domain → click Manage.

  4. Click Add Record.

  5. Enter the following values:

    • Name → default._bimi (cPanel will append your domain automatically).

    • TTL → 14400.

    • Type → TXT.

    • Record →

      v=BIMI1; l=https://example.com/logo.svg

      (Replace example.com/logo.svg with the actual URL to your SVG logo file.)

  6. Click Save Record.

  7. Allow time for DNS propagation (usually within 24 hours).

  • Use Mx Toolbox BIMI Lookup to verify the record.
  • Ensure your SPF and DMARC records are valid, otherwise BIMI will not function.
