Microsoft 365 with Ruachost

Microsoft 365 gives your team Outlook email on your own domain (you@yourcompany.com), plus Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, depending on the plan. You can order and pay for it through Ruachost.

  1. Go to ruachost.com and choose a Microsoft 365 plan.
  2. Choose the number of users (licences) and the billing period.
  3. Complete checkout. You’ll get an email with your Microsoft 365 admin login.

You can add licences later from Services → My Services in the client area.

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  2. Go to Settings → Domains → Add domain and enter your domain.
  3. Microsoft gives you a TXT verification record (MS=ms…). Add it in your DNS, then click Verify. If your domain uses Ruachost’s nameservers, add records in Domains → Manage DNS in the client area, or cPanel’s Zone Editor.
  4. Microsoft then shows the records your domain needs. Copy the exact values from the admin center. They usually look like this:
Type Name Value Priority
MX @ yourdomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com 0
CNAME autodiscover autodiscover.outlook.com
TXT @ v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all
  1. Remove your old MX records, so mail only goes to Microsoft 365.
  2. Turn on DKIM in the Microsoft Defender portal (Email & collaboration → Policies → Email authentication settings → DKIM). Add the two CNAME records it shows, then enable signing.
  3. Add a DMARC record. See Setting up DMARC.

Mail sent from your website or cPanel to your own domain may still be delivered locally instead of to Microsoft 365. In cPanel, open Email Routing, select your domain and choose Remote Mail Exchanger.

In the admin center, go to Users → Active users → Add a user, and assign each one a licence.

Microsoft 365 can import mailboxes from another IMAP provider, including your old Ruachost email, using IMAP migration in the Exchange admin center (Migration → Add migration batch → IMAP migration). Do this before or right after changing the MX records.
