Transferring a domain out of Ruachost

Your domain is registered in your name, so you’re free to move it to another registrar. You can do everything yourself in the client area.

  • The domain must be active. An expired domain must be renewed first. .ng domains can’t be transferred during their grace period.
  • New or recently transferred domains usually can’t be moved for 60 days after registration or a previous transfer. This is a registry rule.
  • Your contact email must be correct. Check it in your domain contact details, because transfer approvals are sent there.
  • Hosting and email: transferring a domain doesn’t move your website or email. If they’re hosted with Ruachost, they keep working as long as the domain’s nameservers stay the same.
  1. Log in to the client area and go to Domains → My Domains.
  2. Select the domain.
  3. Open Registrar Lock, click Disable Registrar Lock, and confirm.

See Locking and unlocking your domain.

  1. On the same domain page, select Get EPP Code.
  2. The code is shown on screen or sent to the registrant’s email address.
  3. Copy it exactly. It’s case-sensitive.

The EPP code (also called an auth code or transfer key) proves you own the domain. Keep it private.

Step 3: Start the transfer at the new registrar

Section titled “Step 3: Start the transfer at the new registrar”

Order a domain transfer at your new registrar and enter the EPP code. Most transfers include one extra year of registration, which the new registrar charges for.

You may receive an email asking you to confirm. Approve it to speed things up. International domains usually move within 5–7 days.
