Setting up your email in Apple Mail on Mac

Ce contenu n’est pas encore disponible dans votre langue.

Add the email account that comes with your Ruachost hosting to the Mail app on your Mac. These steps use IMAP, so your messages stay in sync with webmail and your phone.

You need your full email address, its password, and your mail server: mail.yourdomain.com. If your domain doesn’t point to Ruachost yet, use the server hostname from your welcome email. See Email settings for apps and devices.

  1. Open Mail and choose Mail → Add Account from the menu bar.
  2. Select Other Mail Account and click Continue.
  3. Enter your name, email address and password, and click Sign In.
  4. Mail may say “Unable to verify account name or password” and show more fields. Fill them in:
    • Username: your full email address
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  5. Click Sign In.
  6. Choose Mail (and Notes if you like) and click Done.
  1. Choose Mail → Settings (or Preferences) and click Accounts.
  2. Select the account and click Server Settings.
  3. Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): untick Automatically manage connection settings, and set:
    • Port: 993
    • Use TLS/SSL: ticked
  4. Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): untick Automatically manage connection settings, and set:
    • Port: 465
    • Use TLS/SSL: ticked
    • Authentication: Password
  5. Click Save.

So sent and deleted messages also show in webmail and on your phone, open the account’s Mailbox Behaviors tab and set Sent, Drafts, Junk and Trash to the matching folders on the server. Or, in the Mail sidebar, select the server’s Sent folder and choose Mailbox → Use This Mailbox For → Sent.

  • Certificate warning: use the server hostname from your welcome email (also in cPanel under Email Accounts → Connect Devices) instead of mail.yourdomain.com.
  • Account shows “Offline”: choose Mailbox → Take All Accounts Online, and check your password in webmail.
  • Still not working: see Can’t log in to your email.
