Using Flash on your website

Learn how to use Flash, a multimedia platform for playing audio, video, and other content on your website.

Flash enables the creation and playback of multimedia content, usually embedded in web pages. It uses vector graphics, which can scale to different screen sizes without losing quality. Flash files are compact, making them suitable for web applications.

Flash content can include audio, video, images, and more. Most browsers support Flash by default, and users can install plugins if needed.

To create Flash content, Adobe Flash Professional is commonly used, though other alternatives exist.

Ruachost servers support Flash content. You can embed a Flash .swf file using HTML. For example:

<embed src="my_flash.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="80" loop="false">
  • Replace my_flash.swf with your Flash file name.
  • Adjust width and height to your desired dimensions, keeping the same aspect ratio as the original. For example, an 800×600 file could be displayed as 400×300 without losing quality.
